010 – No Bourbon, No Scotch, No Beer

This year, the University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA) celebrates its 40th anniversary of not having a bar on campus. However, some students are looking to change this. A student-led group is looking to create a bar on campus. We talked with one of the initiators, Michael King, as well as Vice-President Internal Vinay Iyer who has also advocated for a bar on campus.

This week we are also fortunate enough to have a guest host while Devin is away completing his teaching practicum. Amanda Shiplack, UWSA Vice-President Student Services joined us in the studio to lend a hand and talk a bit about what she does at the U of W.

009 – No Motion For You!

Yes, yes, yes, we’re a bit lazy when it’s come to posting the last few episodes. But here they are for your listening pleasure.

In this episode we talk with Murray Jowett, the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) Liaison Director from the University of Winnipeg Students’ Assocation, about some of the motions that went to the CFS Annual General Meeting and how they apply to University of Winnipeg students.

We also talk with Laura Anderson, who is Chair at the Kwantlen Student Association. After they submitted their motions for discussion to the CFS, they discovered that some of their motions had been changed, and in at least one case, removed entirely.

007 – Millennial Sunset?

This was, if you’ll excuse my language, a dilly of an episode.

We had the pleasure of speaking to Zach Churchill (National Director of the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations), Amanda Aziz (National Director of the Canadian Federation of Students) and Noel Baldwin (no relation to Alec Baldwin, but happens to be a policy research officer at the Millenium Scholarship Foundation).

We talked to them all, not surprisingly, about the Millennium Scholarship Foundation. We talked so much that we had to edit them! Here for your listening pleasure is the full episode, plus all of the unedited interviews.
